BRIEF: Work with the management and editor to create an engaging rebranded free newspaper to rival the established paid-for Brighton Argus brand
There were 2 main challenges to overcome with this project. The first, to create a template rigid in structure to ensure consistency; the second, to keep the layout clean and easy to reproduce due to the timeframes for laying out each issue and the budget constraints which allowed only a junior artworker to support.
Using some Dutch newspapers as a starting point, a page structure was developed to work across all sections of the paper. Simple infographics were created for the sports pages as these could be prepared in advance of the main content being provided (usually 48 hours before deadline). The blue mast head was added to stand out on the newstands with plenty of space made available for advertising.
